Chapter 39: Creation holds all of the answers.

“And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” Revelation 5:13

Creation holds all of the answers. This verse in Revelation, really sums up this statement for me. All creatures in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea recognize that God created them and this entire beautiful world and universe. It baffles me, at times, to hear of people who believe earth was created by random with no thought or design, but just with an explosion or evolving life form. My family has moved to several places in America. My husband has worked out east in Pennsylvania and New York, we have worked together in Illinois, Missouri, Oregon and Colorado. In all of these places, we notice the inspiring design of God’s hand. The way the mountains are formed to allow water to make it to the Midwest for the crops, how the ocean sends winds across the land to create rain storms, the humidity and moisture of the Midwest creating a little greenhouse for all of the fields, and the dryness of Colorado and the need of that dryness to absorb the life giving snow in all of its vast amounts. God’s hand in creation was perfectly planned and designed. Nothing was done randomly. Each star was placed in the sky and given a name. Each person on earth was created in His image and with His characteristics. How beautiful is the world and every living thing in it because of the majesty of our Maker!

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17. If we look to God and His word for answers to life, we will find them. Every single word in the Bible came straight from Him and is intended to be used for a good purpose. I remember a pastor saying once that when we ask God for something He will answer. It may be a “yes”, it may be a “no”, or it may be “not now”. He will answer us though. He wants to give us the desire of our heart. He wants us to seek Him, to ask for His help and advice, and to question why the world is working the way it works. Oftentimes I will tell my children when they disagree with me, that they can choose to disagree, but they cannot choose to be disrespectful. I feel it is the same with our Heavenly Father. We can choose to disagree with His answer or question why it has happened that way, but we cannot be disrespectful. We cannot assume that we know better than the all-knowing God what we need in our lives at this moment or that. We cannot demand He give us what we want at this very moment. To do that would be to be throwing a fit like a two-year old because we didn’t get what we wanted at that moment. When we ask, we must be still, we must be reverent and respectful, and we must truly believe that our faith can move the mountains and that He who made us and sought us out, truly wants our thoughts and questions, that He really does want us to ask, seek, knock and allow the door to be opened unto Him and all the answers He possesses.

As a child, I always had a list of questions I would want answered when I got to heaven. My own kids have a list like that now. What human doesn’t want a clearer understanding of how God “could just be there”? I believe God will patiently let us sit and ask all of those questions of Him when we’re together in heaven. For now though, I plan on asking through my prayers, and looking through creation for answers.

Bee Hiding in Beauty.

Just today, I was gathering firewood for a campfire. As I grabbed for a piece, a little gray garter snake slithered down the pile. He was perfectly camouflaged and blended in amazingly well. It was beautiful to see this gray snake laying on a gray piece of firewood, then completely disappear into the grass. God created this animal to perfectly blend in for the purpose of hiding and protecting himself. Some may say that the snake has evolved over millions of years to guarantee his life on earth. While animals and plants do change and adapt to living conditions and habitats, this animal did not crawl out of the primordial ooze with the goal of hiding someday in my wood pile. Instead, God created him to blend in to support his life. When we actively look to nature and study the how and why of an animal or plant, we will often be able to trace back to creation the reason for why it was made.

All of creation cries out to acknowledge the very presence of the Creator. Every animal knows and feels the gift their Master gave them by making them. Let us, as humans created in His image, cry out to acknowledge the gifts He has given us, to see His majesty, and to know that all glory, honor, and praise are due His name!
